Open a video, drag the crop frame over the part you want to keep, press Crop video, and download the result. The corner handles resize the frame, the edge handles change one side, and dragging inside it moves it; a rule of thirds grid appears while you drag. Play or scrub the clip first to find a moment that shows what you are cropping around, because the same frame is applied to every second of the video. VideoCropper takes the MP4, MOV and WebM files a phone or a screen recorder produces, crops them at their full resolution, and keeps the sound.
Pick an aspect ratio from the list to lock the frame: 1:1 for a square post, 9:16 for a Story, Reel or TikTok cut out of a landscape recording, 16:9 for a widescreen clip cut out of a phone video, 4:5 for a portrait post. Type an exact width and height in pixels when a platform wants a specific size. Output size keeps the crop at its original pixels or resizes it to 4K, 1080p or 720p in the same pass, which is the way to cut a clip out of an 8K recording on a phone: the crop is decoded once and comes out at a size every player and every phone handles. The details card on the picture shows the crop in source pixels and where it sits, so two clips can be cropped to the same frame.
Black bars, a letterbox, a watermark along one edge, a distracting background at the sides, a neighbour's window in a screen recording: put the frame just inside them and the cropped video is only the picture. The width and height boxes set the new dimensions exactly, and a big 4K file is cropped as readily as a phone clip. The crop is taken from the original frames, not from a scaled preview, so a 1080p recording cropped to its middle keeps every pixel of that middle.
The cropped video is encoded in the browser with the H.264 encoder your device already has, into a standard MP4 that plays anywhere, or into WebM (VP9) if you prefer. For an MP4, MOV or M4V the whole job runs in a background worker with the device's hardware decoder, so a phone clip crops many times faster than it plays, the page stays responsive, and the work carries on if you switch to another tab. The audio track is copied into the MP4 untouched (AAC in, AAC out) and re-encoded to Opus for a WebM, so nothing goes silent and nothing is lost. Other formats go through the video player instead, at up to twice their speed, with every frame kept. When the crop is done the result screen plays the clip so you can check it before you download.
The cropped video is never held in memory as a whole. In Chrome and Edge on a computer it is written straight to a file on your disk as it is encoded: press Crop video, choose where to save, and the file grows while the crop runs. On Safari, on an iPhone or an Android phone, and in any browser without a save dialog, it is written to the browser's own storage on the device as it encodes and offered from the result screen, so the tab holds a few frames at a time rather than the file. An hour of 4K footage is no problem for a laptop's memory either way.
The video never leaves your device. It is decoded, cropped and re-encoded by your own browser, with no upload, no queue and no watermark, which also means a large 4K file is not limited by anyone's upload cap, only by your device's memory.

Yes. Choose 1:1 or 9:16 from the aspect ratio list and the frame locks to that shape; drag it to the right part of the picture and resize it from a corner. 16:9, 4:5, 4:3, 3:2 and 2:3 are there too, and any exact pixel size can be typed in.
Yes. The audio track is carried into the cropped MP4 or WebM: copied bit for bit into an MP4 when it is already AAC, re-encoded otherwise. A video without sound simply comes out silent.
Any format your browser can play: MP4 and MOV (H.264 and HEVC where the device supports it) and WebM. AVI and other older containers are not decodable by browsers, so convert them to MP4 first.
